New Totems

Since Friday, March 13, I have been confined with Yula, Ari and Aurora inside our flat in Barcelona. During this time we all have experienced different feelings due to the situation we are involved in, I guess like everyone else. Time passes differently, distances have changed, London is no longer here next door and Vic is far, far, far, far away. This strange situation has meant that a small flat in Eixample becomes a house, a city, a country and almost a whole world. With the aim of trying to adapt to the sudden and brutal change that it has brought to our daily lives, we have tried to generate common routines for us all to bear it better. These routines, some more thoughtful and some more spontaneous, have become fundamental pillars of our new daily existence.

These practices have become indispensable and an abstract icon of everyday life, almost like a totem for all four of us. They help us in both individual and collective relationships, to better sustain the situation together.

Alba Font is a graphic designer and art director. She graduated in design at Bau, Design Collage of Barcelona. She have been involved in projects with both artistic and commercial character.Her curiosity and respect for the environment leads her to develop all the projects always with an eye on sustainability. She has been selected to attend the Creative Express organized by Art Directors Club of Europe held in Lisbon in 2018, an event where young European talent from the field of design gathers. In 2019 she won the “Beca de Creació Artística Ciutat de Vic” an award to develop an artistic project within a year.
